Developmental Academy U9-U13
We’re excited to open registration for the 2026 Fall Competitive League Play program for players in Albert Lea. North Star FC continues to grow as a leader in Minnesota’s soccer community and is now one of the largest soccer clubs in the state.
North Star FC is a member of the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association, competes in the Southern Minnesota Soccer League under the United States Soccer Federation, and is also affiliated with US Club Soccer.
Our programs follow nationally recognized player development standards and recommendations to provide athletes with a competitive, structured, and development-focused soccer experience.
U9-U13 Information
August 24th- Ocotober 10th
Starting in the Fall 2026, US Club and USYS will begin the new birth year guidelines that all clubs will follow. Please see below:
U9- August 1st 2017- July 31st 2018
U10- August 1st 2016- July 31st 2017
U11-August 1st 2015- July 31st 2016
U12- August 1st 2014- July 31st 2015
U13- August 1st 2013- July 31st 2014
U11/ U12- Lakeview Park
U9/U10- Troy Hammer Park
Practice Nights will be determined based off of coach availability
Practice times are determined by the coach, but generally practices start at 530pm. U9/U10 practices are 1 hr and U11-14 practices are 1.25 hr to 1.5 hr
Uniform
In the Fall 2025 we moved into the new Adidas North Star FC Kits- these kits are good for 2 years. Players that played with us in the Fall 2025 or Spring / Summer 2026 do not need to order a new kit unless they want to.
New players will need to order a new kit. Families can email Alvaro at alvaro@northstarfc.com to place an order.
Games
All games are on the weekends during the fall season. Most games are on Saturdays but some can appear on Sundays.

At North Star FC, we believe every child should have the opportunity to play, regardless of financial circumstances. If you need assistance, we offer a Financial Aid option during registration through PlayMetrics.
To apply:
- Log in to PlayMetrics and begin the registration process.
- Click on the "Financial Aid" tab before completing your registration.
- Submit your application with the required information.
Once submitted, your request will be reviewed by our team. You will receive an email notification once your application has been approved or denied. After receiving a decision, you may proceed with registering for the program.
