Rec Coaching Information

The North Star FC Recreational Program is coached by volunteer coaches looking to positively impact a child’s life.

The rec program will have roughly 1,500 players per season, and we are only able to service these players with volunteer coaches.

The club will provide age-appropriate manuals and lesson plans; in addition, there is ongoing support for all grades from the North Star FC Directors of Coaching. No formal education is required, but it is recommended.

We encourage current North Star FC players, non-parents and parents of players to become involved in this program. This is a volunteer position. Total time commitment varies based on the grade you are coaching.

The dates for the 2025 Spring Rec season are:

  • Practices will officially start the week of April 14th
  • All games are on Saturdays with the first games on April 19th
  • Doubleheader day is May 31st . All teams except Kindergarten teams will have 2 games scheduled
  • The last games will be on June 7th

The committee will do it’s best to keep your player in the quadrant (NW, NE, SW, SE) in which they live. Practicing in your quadrant is NOT guaranteed! This is dependent on the number of coaches that volunteer to coach. For example, if we have 40 2nd girls from the SE and only one coach, not all the players will be in the SE.

If you register for the REC program you are agreeing that you will practice anywhere in the Rochester City Limits. REFUNDS WILL NOT BE GIVEN if you do not get the location you want.

Kindergarten – Tuesday

1st-2nd Grade – Mon / Wed

3rd-4th Grade – Tue / Thu

5th-6th Grade Girls – Tue / Thu

5th-6th Grade Boys – Mon / Wed

7th-9th Grade – coach’s choice

**Practice Times are determined by the coach. Most coaches choose 5:30 or 6:00 pm

EARLY BIRD Registration (November 15, 2024 – January 13 , 2025)
Grade K = $80
Grades 1st/2nd = $90
Grades 3rd/4th = $100
Grades 5th/6th = $110
Grades 7th-9th = $80

GENERAL Registration (January 14, 2025 – February 26, 2025)
Grade K = $90
Grades 1st/2nd = $100
Grades 3rd/4th = $110
Grades 5th/6th = $120
Grades 7th-9th = $90

Financial aid is available. It is located on the page when you begin your registration- click on club programs, and then at the top you will see Financial Aid- fill out the information and submit.

1 - Complete Annual Background Check

Background checks are good for one calendar year- 1/1 – 12/31

2 - Complete SafeSport Training

Safesport certificates are good for 2 years, however, you need to complete the annual retest. SafeSport code: YC3E-6P5G-YYIL-CS2M

The main SafeSport course or the appropriate Refresher course must be completed following the yearly cycle of training listed below.

Once you are logged in, select ‘Catalog’. Then select and complete the appropriate course as listed below.

Year 2 of coaching – ‘Refresher 1: Recognizing and Reporting Misconduct – U.S. Soccer Federation’

Year 3 of coaching – ‘Refresher 2: Preventing Misconduct – U.S. Soccer Federation‘

Year 4 of coaching – ‘Refresher 3: Creating a Positive Sport Environment – U.S. Soccer Federation’

Year 5 of coaching – Repeat the ‘SafeSport Trained – U.S. Soccer Federation’ course

Year 6 of coaching – ‘Refresher 1: Recognizing and Reporting Misconduct – U.S. Soccer Federation’

Year 7 of coaching – and so on….

3 - Complete Concussion Training

Concussion certificates are good for 3 years. Click the Concussion Training button below for next steps.
